Normandy actively supports the most advanced research sectors while promoting the development of innovative activities. To do so, it has set up numerous systems promoting the dissemination of technological information, technical and financial tools: business incubators, CRITT(*), CNRT(*), CRT(*), and PFT(*), investment grants, advisory consulting assistance, executive recruitment assistance, assistance to tutoring and support to young graduates’ projects, economic intelligence awareness, and more.
Normandy
research also relies on the PUN,
Pôle Universitaire Normand (Normandy
University Network) that brings together the university
facilities in Haute Normandie and Basse Normandie,
i.e., 130 laboratories, 3,900 teacher scientists,
and 2,000 doctoral students.

Biology and Agro-Bioindustry |
The Basic and Applied Biology Research Centre encompasses teams from six different laboratories within the ISBIO (Institut de Biologie et Agro-industries, biology and agro-industry institute) and an agri-foodstuff technical centre, ADRIA Normandie: foodstuff safety and quality, sensory assessment, analytical controls, technological tests, and document watch. |

Materials and Ion-Matter Interaction |
The
Materials Centre marshals teams working
in five laboratories within the National
Centre for Technological Research on Materials,
and a technology-focussed center working
with the ISPA
(Graduate Ingineering School in Plastics
Processing of Alençon).
The teams’ research hinge around the study and characterisation of synthetic and natural polymers, metallic, ceramic and composite materials, plastic and ceramic processing, materials for electronics and catalysis. The research units rely on big equipment such as the GANIL and CIRIL (Centre interdisciplinaire de recherches sur ions-lasers, interdisciplinary ion-laser research centre) handling the basic and applied aspects of nuclear physics and atomic physics.

Imaging, and Information and Communication Technologies |
The works conducted within the ITIC Research Centre in Caen hinge around five main topics: Image Processing and Analysis, Information Security and Transmission, Man-Machine Interaction, Sensors and Instrumentation, the Impact of Information and Communication Technologies on Humans.

Environment Control and Industrial Safety |
The Environment Control Centre regroups the Cherbourg Training Centre, many academic teams, the corporate association EMA, the CREMA (the regional committee for environment control studies), the CRITT BNC and the RESOTEC technological platform.
CNPP/VALMARIS in Vernon: European Centre for the Risk Control-Environment (safety of humans and assets).
PFT Evreux: The technological platform, benefiting from the «Cold Microbiology and Foodstuff Quality» Laboratory at the Evreux University Technological Institute, develops innovative decontamination technologies in the food-processing, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries... |

Combustion - Engines |
The Research Centre combines basic and applied research and includes international-scale laboratories such as CORIA, CERTAM and CEVAA, all located at the Madrillet Technopole in Rouen, which is also the host site for the “Combustion and Engines” CNRT.

Chemistry - Biology - Healthcare |
The Chemistry-Biology-Health Research Centre is structured around "IFRMP", the backbone of 13 laboratories, the IRCOF "Fine Organic Chemistry Research Institute", and The Normandy Chemistry-Biology Postgraduate School (University of Rouen). The research addresses new molecules for tomorrow’s drugs and plant proteins for humans.
